Thursday: Freestyle – Making Spa Products!

Hey guys! I have this kit called “Smartlab All-Natural Spa Lab”. I know It’s like a kids toy, but whatever. I want to make some cool spa stuff. I’m gonna teach you as I learn myself how to make cool spa remedies and such with this kit.

Mostly this kit is an assortment of different kinds of pots, containers, and spoons.

There were 4 of each item shown except for the green glitter scoop

One thing I find quite exciting is the white flower mold. This is because I’ve found out that it’s a bath bomb mold! Bath bombs can be pretty expensive but now I get to make them at home for free? That’s just plain out awesome! The pots are for masks, scrubs, goo, and other stuff like that. I think the little pots are for items like lip balm. This kit also included some recipes and something that immediately alarmed me, 8 bags of citric acid!

When I discovered the 8 bags I was like “Is this even for kids?”. Even now I’m a bit alarmed by finding 8 packets of citric acid in what is supposedly a kids toy!

So anyway, the first thing I’ll do is I’m gonna attempt to make a bath bomb. First I filled a mold with glitter.

Then I mixed some lime Kool-Aid, cornstarch, 1 packet of citric acid, baking soda, and as many flicks of water as it took for me to get the mixture to stay dry but stick together.

Then I shaped as much mixture as I could into the mold.

I let it dry for about 20 minutes or more until it mostly dried up but unfortunately crumbled in some places. I have to dry it all night long so I’ll show you the results tomorrow (don’t worry, I’m still doing a food post).

Then I made aloe vera glitter gel. It was really easy and I found that aloe vera (clear goo) smells heavenly. First I squeezed some aloe vera gel into my small pot.

Then I added some honey and glitter and mixed it.

Bravo! The finished product!

Lastly I made some lip balm. I melted petroleum jelly and vanilla extract in the microwave until it was liquified. Then I popped it in the freezer for a few minutes. I’m keeping it refrigerated right now.

Note: I do not own anything, I just got the spa kit which was made by SmartLab.
