The Resolution Post – New Year, New You

As the year comes to an end, it’s time for the infamous resolution post. Last year I did this post. Make sure to check it out here.

Last year I talked about setting reasonable goals for yourself. This year I’m gonna talk about picking the right resolution.

When you’re thinking about what you want to choose as your resolution, think about your faults. But this is no time to be discouraging yourself. This is the time to be encouraging yourself and motivating yourself. Think about who you want to be.

Maybe your really messy and you wish you were more organized. Maybe you find yourself scarfing down Ramen every other night of the week and you wish you knew how to cook. Maybe you’re a constant stress case (like me lol) and you wish you had more “me” time. These are all problems fixable with a resolution. All you have to do is put a fair amount of effort towards improving you and you’ll see the results coming almost instantaneously.

This year my resolution is to wake up on my first alarm. Maybe I’ll even have the courage to delete my other alarms! So this is my mission to you. Remember that nobody’s perfect, but you have still drawn the long end of the stick. That you can make a change for the better, you just have to try. And that I believe in you.

For help on keeping your resolution or with any questions, feel free to Tweet me or DM me @WithalGlitzBlog on Twitter.

Make sure to follow me @WithalGlitzBlog on Twitter,WithalGlitzBlog on Pinterest, and WithalGlitzBlog on Instagram!

Even though it’s a new year, not everything has changed, so as always, I’ll talk to you very very soon, XOXO Love, Bailey ❤

Thursday: Freestyle – Making Spa Products!

Hey guys! I have this kit called “Smartlab All-Natural Spa Lab”. I know It’s like a kids toy, but whatever. I want to make some cool spa stuff. I’m gonna teach you as I learn myself how to make cool spa remedies and such with this kit.

Mostly this kit is an assortment of different kinds of pots, containers, and spoons.

There were 4 of each item shown except for the green glitter scoop

There were 4 of each item shown except for the green glitter scoop

One thing I find quite exciting is the white flower mold. This is because I’ve found out that it’s a bath bomb mold! Bath bombs can be pretty expensive but now I get to make them at home for free? That’s just plain out awesome! The pots are for masks, scrubs, goo, and other stuff like that. I think the little pots are for items like lip balm. This kit also included some recipes and something that immediately alarmed me, 8 bags of citric acid!

The plastic wrap also enclosed to bags of body glitter

When I discovered the 8 bags I was like “Is this even for kids?”. Even now I’m a bit alarmed by finding 8 packets of citric acid in what is supposedly a kids toy!

So anyway, the first thing I’ll do is I’m gonna attempt to make a bath bomb. First I filled a mold with glitter.

Then I mixed some lime Kool-Aid, cornstarch, 1 packet of citric acid, baking soda, and as many flicks of water as it took for me to get the mixture to stay dry but stick together.

Then I shaped as much mixture as I could into the mold.

I let it dry for about 20 minutes or more until it mostly dried up but unfortunately crumbled in some places. I have to dry it all night long so I’ll show you the results tomorrow (don’t worry, I’m still doing a food post).

Then I made aloe vera glitter gel. It was really easy and I found that aloe vera (clear goo) smells heavenly. First I squeezed some aloe vera gel into my small pot.

photo (8)

Then I added some honey and glitter and mixed it.

Bravo! The finished product!

Lastly I made some lip balm. I melted petroleum jelly and vanilla extract in the microwave until it was liquified. Then I popped it in the freezer for a few minutes. I’m keeping it refrigerated right now.

Note: I do not own anything, I just got the spa kit which was made by SmartLab.

Ok guys, I hope you enjoyed this post and it was helpful to you. Tomorrow I’ll probably horribly fail to cook something so make sure to come back! Follow With a Little Glitz on Twitter! Talk to you tomorrow, XOXO Love Bailey

Tuesday: Music – CelebScoop Lorde

Hey guys! Today I’m doing a new type of blog I might do every now and then. I call it “CelebScoop”. In these “CelebScoops”, I’ll be writing an article on a musician or actor. Today I’m gonna talk about Lorde. So anyway I’ll get started, but just a quick reminder – I will be blogging tomorrow, but I might not do an article on books &/or writing and replace it with a Christmas post because of the holiday.

Lorde is a 17 year old singer songwriter from New Zealand. She currently holds the #5 postition on the Billboard Hot 100 for her hit song “Royals”. I had never really listened to her before, but recently I have. I am currently obsessed with “Royals”. In fact I’m listening to it right now. I really like Lorde’s voice. She sounds so different from what you hear these days. I feel like she is slowly changing the whole image and era of music. I personally like this. I’ve been a fan of classic music legends since I was very young. In fact I still love Paul McCartney and the Beatles. This change in the direction of music goes back to a classier time. Even though Lorde doesn’t sound like a total blast from the past, she sounds natural. Not autotuned. She actually sings. Some people like Rihanna or Nicki Minaj almost barely sing at all. “Royals” is a very different style than you commonly see these days, and I look forward to seeing more of it.

I’m currently listening to another song by Lorde called “Team”. My first impression on this song is that it reminds me of something Katy Perry would do. It also has a hint of One Republic’s “Good Life”.  I just finished listening and I found it quite enjoyable. Lorde has a good sense for saying what I’m thinking sometimes. One line that particularly struck me was “I’m kind of over getting told to throw my hands up in the air”. I couldn’t help laugh a bit when I heard that line.

So the last thing about Lorde I want to talk about is her style. I’ve noticed she has a very unique fashion sense. One of my favorite looks of hers is the one she wears in the “Royals” video.

As you can see she has a very contemporary wardrobe.  This look is a bit more classic and elegant.

Which song did you like better? I like “Royals” best.

So that was my first CelebScoop. I hoped you liked it. Remember to check out the “With a Little Glitz” Twitter account and follow. Thanks for reading, Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow! XOXO Love, Bailey

Monday: Review – Quick or Late Present Ideas Under and Over $20.00

Even though Christmas is in about 2 days I have some awesome ideas for last-minute or just plain out late Christmas present ideas. During the holiday season things can get absolutely CRAZY. I’ve swept together some different product suggestions for boys and girls of all ages :)!

Category 1 : The Book Worm & or Writer

Gift 1 (under)  –  Building Fiction by Jesse Lee Kercheval  $17.55 at Barnes & Noble   I’m currently reading this book and I really enjoy it! Believe it or not but I’m not even that big of a bookworm. Lately though I have gotten into writing and this book was a big inspiration to me as well as very helpful. I would recommend buying a small notebook or Stemo pad to go with this book.

Gift 2 (over)  –   Audible 3,6, or 12 month membership $45.00 – $150.00 at Audible.com  I’ve never personally tried out audible myself but I’ve heard good things about it online. I think it would make a great gift especially for the book-worm who’s always on the go or someone who is too busy to physically read a book.

Category 2:  The fashionista and or  beauty addict.

Gift 1 (under) –  Japanese Cherry Blossom Trio Body Set $12.00 at Bath and Body Works  I hear this is a nice scent, probably enjoyable to most people. You can buy trio sets in other fragrances too so if you don’t think the person your buying for would like that scent you can always get another scent.

Gift 2 (over)  –   Urban Decay Cosmetics Book of Shadows Vol. IV Redux $32.00 at Ulta   This looks like the ultimate makeup kit. It includes about 16 eye-shadow shades, an eyeliner, Urban Decay’s famous “Primer Potion”, a mascara, a portable amp for your phone to jam out to your favorite music, and Urban Decay’s very own look cards filled with looks worth stealing. I kinda want this myself :)!

Category 3: The Tech Lover

Gift 1 (under) – Sumdex NeoMetro SuperLight Carrying Case (Sleeve) for 10″ $19.54 at Best Buy  This looks perfect for anyone with an Ipad, girl or guy.  I think it only comes in pink or grey but I’m not sure. It has a nifty pouch in the front. This sleeve would be great for traveling.

Gift 2 (over) –  Apple Ipod Shuffle $49.99  at Best Buy  I had an Ipod shuffle of another generation (I lost it). It works really well and plays music easily. I would like to warn though that the shuffle does not work well if at all if it gets in too much contact with water. Someone i know had one as well and one thing led to another and their shuffle got run directly under water and did not work. If a shuffle does get in contact with water, I would try laying it in a bowl of dry and un-cooked rice. Anyway, the shuffle makes a nice gift.

Category 4: Kids in your life.

Gift 1 (under) –   Edu Science Land & Sky 360 Tabletop Refractor Telescope $18.74 at Toys R Us  I’m sure any kid of almost any age would like this. Especially for any kid into astronomy or even just science.

Gift 2  (over) –   Crayola Melt ‘n’  Mold Factory $59.99 at Toys R Us  This looks really cool. I find the concept of making crayons quite intriguing. The only thing is that I wouldn’t get this for anyone under 6 years old because it looks like it’s probably really messy.

Category 5:  Your Dad, Boyfriend, or other man in your life.

Gift 1 (under) –   Men’s NFL Slippers $12.99 at Target  These would make a great gift for any guy who likes football in your life. I’m not sure how many teams are available, but remember to pick the right team!

Gift 2 (over) –   NFL Football Rug $30.99 at Walmart   This would look nice in a bathroom or even as a doormat.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I will be posting on Christmas just so you know. If you have anything that might make a good addition to this list please comment down below. Thanks! XOXO Love, Bailey
