Hey guys! I don’t usually do many DIYs on this blog, but I crafted this for myself a couple days ago and I wanted to share it with you guys! So let’s do this!

The final product!

What you need:

Thumbtacks (with a thick-ish plastic handle preferably)

3  Desk File Folders (no pockets, this is very important)

A hole puncher

A marker/pen/pencil (optional)

Step one: Buy Folders

FullSizeRender

Mine were in a three pack in the dollar section at Target. Make sure your folders are pocket-less and are not so strong to the point where a tack could not push through it. A slick paper folder is probably a happy medium.

Step two: Poke a hole in the back flap of the folder

FullSizeRender (1) FullSizeRender (2)

Poke a hole with the tack in the very center top on the back half of the folder. Don’t let any tabs trick you. Always make the hole top center or the folder will not hang evenly and all your papers will fall out.

Step three:  Hole punch the front flap

IMG_1360

Punch your hole in the same spot as where your tack hole was (top center), only punch it on the front facing flap. (not the one there is already a tack hole in)  If you’d like to mark where to punch the whole you may.

Step four:  Use a tack to hang your folder

Make sure to hang it into the wall using the first smaller whole you created.

Step five: Use your larger front flap whole and pull the plastic part of the tack through

This secures the folder shut so you can put you papers in it.

Step six:  Repeat steps 1-5 on all your other folders to your pleasing

And your done! Voile!

How I Organize My Life! (Pt. 1) – New Year, New You

Hey guys! I’ve decided as a way to close up January, I’ll show you how I stay organized! This post will cover the following areas:  Life Binder, Calendar, School Planner

In my next post I’ll give you my cleaning tips and tips on keeping little things organized! In these next two posts I’ll also leave plenty of links to other helpful sources.

So let’s get into it!

Life Binder

My “life binder” is modeled after the one made by perpetualxbeauty on Youtube. Here is the tutorial I used to do it.

This is my “Life Binder”

binder

I love the turquoise (my favorite color). This binder I think is made by Avery. I always keep a few binder clips on top.

bindertabs

On the inside you’ll see the tab system I created. I just used Post It tabs and attached them to my different divider pages (I printed them off of Jill’s video). I’m going to go through each section. Each one has a stack of loose leaf filler paper in the back for random notes.

This Week: Under this column I keep a calendar page of the current month that I use to overview my week.

week

I usually like to use colorful pens, highlighters, tape, and stickers to spruce it up. The more fun and colorful it is, the more organized and inspiring it is!

stuff

School: Under school I write down any contacts and my school schedule. Just about anything that is about school goes in there.

Calendar: Under calendar, is, well, a calendar. I keep a page for future months to keep track of important dates. Once a new month begins, I move it’s page from “calendar” to “this week”.

Work: Under “work” I keep all things blog related. Things like checklists and outlines go under “work”

To Do: Here I keep personal goals and to do lists. Things like “clean desk” or “take shower” would be listed as a to do

Recipes: Here I keep personal recipes in case I forget and ingredient or process in a favorite

Gifts: This is where I write down what I’m getting people for birthday/Christmas/ext.

School Planner:

My school planner is what I use to record my homework assignments and special dates. This is how I set it up

Calendar:

On my calendar I use the same general premise of my life binder. My calendar came from the dollar section at Target.

Bedroom Transformation: Moving and Organizing Little Things

Hey guys! Today I’m gonna show you how I’ve organized and moved some of my random things. If you regularly read my blog you’d probably know I’m doing a room makeover. If not I’ll explain. I’m moving from the current bedroom I’m in to another one. Along with that, the walls have been painted Arctic Blue and I’m getting a new bed and some  cool wall art. You may have seen my new bedding, if not you’ll see soon enough because in a couple weeks I’m finally moving in and I’ll definitely be doing a room tour and what’s in my bathroom.  So anyway, let’s get started!

I forgot to take a before picture of the cabinet, but this was everything that was in there.

photo (1)

It was a total mess!

Then I turned everything into organized chaos.

photo (2) photo (3)

Then I started getting down to business by finding a place for some of the random Items. I began to organize my clear three drawer organizer.

photo (4)

Here’s a before of all three drawers

And no, I did not use all those lipglosses and such items. All lot of them were gifts from a long time ago or products that I gave to my little sisters.

Then I worked a miracle!

photo (8) photo (9) photo (10)

In the first drawer I decided to keep PocketBacs and any random hand creams and lotions I’ve collected over the years. In the second, after pairing down many lip products, I filled it with lip products I wanted to keep and some powder makeup. For the third, I didn’t really have anything to put in it so I just tossed in a few random little things like keychains.

Then I tackled my jewelry box.

photo (11)

Everything was just a jumbled up mess, not to mention all the earring rescues and necklace untanglings that had to be performed.

First I worked out the necklaces.

photo (12) photo (13)

On one side I decided to keep chunky and costume-like necklaces, and on the other I kept small necklaces that get easily tangled.

Then I worked on the top compartment for rings and other such things.

photo (14)

I organized any homeless rings and put my sweater clips in one of the side compartment. Oh yeah, and the reason I have a Mocking Jay pin is because I went as Katniss Everdeen for Halloween this past year.

Anyway, then I finally got to the earrings. These are the outcome.

photo (15) photo (16)

In the first drawer I put my costume, chunky plastic, earrings. And in the other I put ones that wear on the norm that aren’t as bulky and bright. And in case you notice, no I do not have pierced ears. I wear clip-on earrings because my family is prone to ear infections.

Lastly, I scattered a few random bracelets in the bottom drawer.

Although I don’t keep all of my jewelry in the box, it’s definitely nice for it to be clean again.

I boxed everything up, including my little statues and ceramic pieces I painted.

And then….. VOILE! The final product!
